5 out of 5 stars Excellent and Informative   January 22, 2008
This is the best book I've read on Greyhounds. It is easy to read yet extremely rich in information. It teaches the reader all about the psychology of a Greyhound, what to expect when you bring your Greyhound home for the first time, the do's and don'ts of caring for a Greyhound and easy to understand dog training techniques. An absolute must read for anyone considering adopting one of these most affectionate and loyal animals.

5 out of 5 stars Full of tips, suggestions, links, and info on Greyhounds.   November 25, 2007
This book is full of things I would have never thought of about a Greyhound. I think this book covers it all, training, web links, vets., Greyhound merchandise, health, & beyond! Another must have book for Greyhound owners.

3 out of 5 stars Good book; helpful hints   November 6, 2007
I found this book helpful before I received my adopted greyhound. It helped me be more prepared on what to expect when my greyhound came home. I thought there was too much emphasis on the training portion, although I did get a few ideas on what to do. The part about rewarding with a treat before and after meeting people has helped out a lot. I do recommend this book before you get your greyhound as well as reading other books so you'll know what to expect.

4 out of 5 stars This is good information   November 5, 2007
When I was considering adopting a retired racing greyhound, the adoption group asked me to get this book. I did. And I adopted the greyhound. The author is clearly very experienced with dogs, particularly greyhounds, and the book is very informative. I recommend it highly

5 out of 5 stars Not really for dummies!   September 26, 2007
This book is required reading for many retired racing greyhound adoption groups, and with good reason: it's excellent. We read it twice before making the plunge to adopt our first greyhound (we're up to two). It's hard to translate the written word on training to actually doing it, but stick with it. I took one of Ms. Livingood's classes and found my hound and I were ahead of the game because we had been using the training tips from the book. Within three months, we passed the Canine Good Citizen test (okay, I admit it ... greyhounds are naturally good citizens).

So, what are you waiting for? Buy the book and adopt a greyhound!
