An Artist and His Four Legged Soulmate May 14, 2007 This wonderful book was a big hit with me for two reasons. I've had dachshunds all of my life, with two in residence now, and I majored in art history in college. The minute the book arrived I read it cover to cover. Lump's antics tickled me to death and I laughed out loud causing my own dachshunds to stare and look at me in the way that only dachsies can do. I've even begun calling my most mischievious one "Lumpita" ! After reading the book I went back and examined every detail in each picture, fascinated with the very intimate look into the private life of the artist. The story of Picasso and Lump exposes a vulnerable side of an artistic genius. You don't have to love dachshunds to love this book!
Not what I expected May 12, 2007 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I didn't realize when I ordered this book that it was primarily a photographic essay. The pictures are delightful but, as a dachshund "owner," I had hoped for more of a written history of the adventures of Lump. 'Owner' in quotes since anyone who has lived with a dachsie knows who owns whom.
Fell in love with Lump May 9, 2007 Touching story played out in pictures of the relationship between Picasso and Lump - his dachshund. The favorite picture is one of Picasso eating every bit of fish at dinner with Lump looking on. Got this for my husband for his birthday - it sits on his bedside table - this book is a real treat!
Who would have thought that a strong painter would have such a tender heart for his dogs. March 26, 2007 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book is one that all dog owners will love. The famous artist who did many wonderful paintings, held, hugged and loved Lump--and even fed him from the table--like many dog owners do. I highly recommend it. This book is a keeper.
Lovely Book! March 16, 2007 As a huge Picasso AND dachshund fan.. I loved this sweet picture book, I may be a sap, but a few of the pictures and captions brought a tear to my eye! And the paintings that Picasso did with Lump in them- magnifico!
