3 out of 5 stars Silly book kids will like to read around Halloween.   September 18, 2006

Poor Oscar Myer wiener dog (a hotdog dog) gets teased all the time. The bully dogs are always laughing at him because of his size and shape. For Halloween, Oscar's mom buys him a costume that is a hotdog roll with mustard on it. Oscar is so embarrassed, but wears it to avoid hurting his mothers feelings. Oscar gets laughed at once again but the story twists to allow Oscar a chance to be a hero. Oscar wins the respect of the bullies and they all share their Halloween dog treats with him. Silly story with decent, basic illustrations.

An adorable book that my preschool children want to hear again and again. This is a standard book in my preschool during the month of October. It is so funny with a lesson to boot!

5 out of 5 stars "Frank-ly" my dear, this book never gets old!   July 25, 2006

Dav Pilkey has written a most delightful book that addresses lots of kids issues: being different from your friends, trying to please parents, but best off all, wanting to be a hero!

My granddaughter has loved this book since she was only three years old although older kids will love it, too, just as she still does. She delights in all the troubles Oscar, the Wiener Dog, has to deal with on that very special day: Halloween. Oscar plans a scary costume but when his mom has worked hard to create a costume of a hotdog bun complete with mustard, he wears it to please her. In the end, the costume helps Oscar to save the day when all his doggy friends are scared by an evil, hissing monster and they jump into a pond to escape from it.

Ashleigh can listen to this book over and over and over --- and because of Pilkey's delightful language and delicious puns, this book never gets old for grandma either.

I have 4 dachshunds and I originally bought the book because I collect dachshund items but I fell in love with the story. It is so well-written and illustrated. It makes a great gift for kids and dog lovers.

Halloweiner is story written by Dave Pickily. If you are a Halloweiner for Halloween then here is a story for you. Halloweiner is about a dog who is being picked on by the other dogs. His costume doesn't help, it is three dogs high and three dogs wide.
While he was trick or treating he coud not get any treats because all of the other dogs ran ahead and got all of the treats. Then, that night there was a ghost that came to all of the other dogs! Dun dun dun Halloweiner to the rescue! The Halloweiner ripped the cape off of the ghost and out came to cats. Halloweiner jumped into the water after he scared the cats away. From then on the other dogs called him Super Weiner!
If you like Halloween you wll like this story, I know I did! Read Halloweiner!
