Another Hit! April 17, 2007 L.A Meyer has done it again. I love the Bloody Jack series. I teach high school English, and this series, by far, has been my absolute favorite, not the mention a favorite of many students. I cannot wait until Mississippi Jack is released.
A rollicking fun ride! March 30, 2007 I have been a fan of the Jack Faber from the very first book and this does not disappoint! Although I must confess that there is a part of me that would like to see her settle down with her Jaimy, I would most certainly miss her cheeky nature.
Interestingly enough, I am an avid reader and tend to carry a book with me wherever I go, so that if I am caught in a queue, I have something to do. Well, one day I'm waiting in a line, reading the second in this series ("Curse of the Blue Tattoo"), and I notice the lass in front of me also has her nose buried in a book. And what might her engrossing read prove to be? Why, it was "Bloody Jack"! Just goes to show that with her spirited nature, high-flying adventures and tongue in cheek humour, none of us want to put Jacky down for but even a moment!
The plot itself is a little far-fetched - why would any slaver wish to run the risk and bother of kidnapping and selling several dozen upper-class American lasses? Surely the profit would be outweighed by the risk if he were caught? I felt the girls themselves behaved convincingly, and the rivalry was most realistic. It was nice too, to have an increased insight into Jacky's time within Charlie's gang - although I could not help wonder if it - and indeed all of the story, is somewhat embellished by our lovely, yet sly, narrator.
Still, a fun, rollicking romp and I shall certainly look forward to the next instalment - who thinks she's next going to be acting the spy?
: -) March 6, 2007 I have been a hard-core fan of Jacky since i first found the first book, "bloody Jack" while randomly searching the library shelves. I have always loved the adventure, romance, and humor! This latest book was great and suspenceful and everything i hoped it would be! Any girl who hasnt read this book is missing out on one of the BEST pieces of young adult literature out there! I highly recommend this book to all my friends and we have created our own little jacky-fan-club... i have heard there might be a movie coming out soon? i would love to know if that is true... and keep the books coming Mr. Meyer!!!!!
The Belly of the Bloodhound February 12, 2007 In the Belly of the Bloodhound is the 4th adventure of Jacky, an adventorus charactare in teh book who is a girl but was a orphan on the streets of London and then dressed up as a boy and got aboard a ship. In this book she returnes to her school the Lawson Pebody School for Fine Young Girls. She got there by the money she earned sialing after she was found out and was put in Boston. They gave her no choice. When she comes back she is greeter with the sight of her enemy Clarissa Howe of the Washington Howes and with friends like Amy Tevlen. One day they are going on a field trip but it turns out that Misstress Pimm is sick (the Head of the school) along with the faculty. So two strangers take them. The strangers turn out to be slave holders and take all the girls prisenors. They are going to be taken to Africa to be sold. Can thet escape of will they be sold?
My favories part was at the end when Jacky gets arrested for piracy. I thought it was very susspeceful and makes you wish the 5th book was out.
I would reccomend this book to adventure lovers and people who might be interested in what it was like back in the 1800s.

A fascinating read for one and all! January 18, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Just a quickie to let those of you, who like me, are a far cry from high school days, that Jacky's adventures are as fascinating and exciting for us, as for those her own age. Bloodhound is non-stop adventure in a historical setting that brings the horror of the slaving trade home in a way not yet experienced. Three cheers for Lou for sharing such great story telling with those of us who adore a fantastic armchair adventure.
