Gotta read it! June 30, 1999 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I read this book in one sitting. I love JoBeth and all her extended family. This series is one of the best of this genre. It is set in the south, has a great plot, a strong female lead, mystery, and dogs. What more could we ask for? I know! Please Ms. Lanier write faster!
Virginia Lanier does it Again!! June 27, 1999 Another excellent weaving of exciting adventures for Jo Beth Sidden, her friends, and her glorious bloodhounds. Find out if her beloved Bobby Lee really sees those butterflies, will Jo Beth and Hank resolve their differences, will Bubba finally meet his match and so much more! If you have not read Virginia Lanier's Bloodhound series you are missing a great read. I couldn't put it down!!
She's done it again!!!! June 21, 1999 Lanier has given us another winner. Her character is sassy, down-to-earth, and an exciting read. She is very under-rated as a writer and should be taken very seriously in the mystery- fiction field.. Her trials and tribulations with her bloodhounds are sooo accurate.
Excellent Siddons' and her bloodhounds entry June 8, 1999 Wealthy Alyce Cancannon desperately wants to hire Jo Beth Siddons and her bloodhounds to find the elderly woman's missing cat Amelia. Jo Beth refuses because she has trained her canines to sniff for humans while ignoring the scent of an animal. However, after consulting with the niece of the eccentric Alyce, Jo Beth accepts the incredible offer that no longer seems frivolous. Jo Beth and her animal succeed in reuniting owner and pet, but the sleuth believes that someone wants to harm Alyce. The senior citizen ignores Jo Beth's warning. An assailant kills Alyce, but her will contained a strange coda. Following the legal instructions, her lawyers hire Jo Beth to discover the identity of her killer. There are numerous suspects who wanted Alyce dead. As the case becomes more complicated by the moment, all Jo Beth wants is to return home to the birth of a new bloodhound litter. The fifth Jo Beth Siddons' mystery is an intriguing tale that brings segments of Georgia to life. The story line is filled with action as Jo Beth struggles with red herrings and a myriad of viable suspects. Jo Beth remains a tart peach and the support cast adds much dimension to a fine novel. Virginia Lanier has provided readers with an interesting series that stars a strong female protagonist and her beloved canines. Harriet Klausner
