I really think this is a sweet little book. We recently lost one of our Basenjis to cancer and we have had to talk to our 3 year old son about how dogs become angels and live in heaven with God. This book has helped with that. It's a good year 'round book, not just for the Christmas season.I would recommend it for all ages.

I thoroughly enjoyed this little book telling the story of Christmas through the eyes of a Basenji. The author and illustrator capture many of the characteristics so common to this breed. If you own basenjis you are sure to find one of your own in this book.
a delightful children's Christmas tale June 18, 1998
"Candle" is as moving a tale as "The Littlest Angel", but features a Basenji puppy as he searches for the meaning of Christmas. The illustrations are delightful and well suited to the story. Colorful, amusing, and totally charming! And an absolute must for Basenji lovers!
