Product Description Buddi is an undefeated greyhound racer who makes a rash decision when he hears about another undefeated greyhound he?s scheduled to race. Buddi has nothing but contempt for families, but he puts himself up for adoption and leaves the dog-track and the only life he?s ever known just to keep his winning streak intact. On his way out of the track, however, Buddi discovers he?s not fooling anyone and that, instead of retiring as a champion, he?s seen as creeping away like a coward. Much to his surprise, Buddi discovers he loves his new family and his new life and he soon finds himself forced to decide between returning to the track to regain his honor as a champion or losing his new family! Follow Buddi in his first of many adventures in a world as new to him as it is familiar to us. Buddi is based on the author?s beloved pet, who found his way into her home and heart through a national non-profit greyhound adoption organization. In purchasing this charity-supporting book, you will directly contribute to finding loving homes for other retired racing greyhounds like Buddi. With a strong, positive message and large, brightly-colored illustrations, The Adventures of Buddi The Greyhound: Finding A Family is destined to become a classic.

Good exposure for greyhound adoption, but not well-written January 6, 2003 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
I appreciate that books like this exist since greyhound welfare is a cause close to my heart. But I just think it could have been done better. The story is very short and does not unfold smoothly. Buddi the greyhound wants to be adopted but his pride makes him desire more to race against a tough competitor. His new owner gives him up pretty easily to let him finish his racing career, only for him to realize that he would rather retire to a home. There is also a substory that interferes with the main plot, especially since the story is so short. Young kids probably won't notice that the story is lacking, so I guess it's okay as a starting point.
Buddi: A Sweet Story About Love November 28, 2002 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is a sweet story about love, priorities and what is really important in life. A charming story, beautifully illustrated, perfect for young readers. It even came autographed by Tara and Buddi!
Buddi the Greyhound is Great! April 3, 2002 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This book inspires children and adults alike. The story beautifully illustrates the plight of these lovely dogs. After I discovered that some proceeds are sent to Greyhound rescue groups, I bought another copy of the book!
Heartwarming and educational July 3, 2001 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
As the owner of three adopted racing greyhounds, I purchased this book for my niece. I found the book to be very educational..not only does it teach children about the importance of a family, but it also teaches them about how much love a dog has to give. Although I know how bad a track dog can have it, it was good that that aspect of a racer's life was not told to children. It was only the love that these dogs will receive and give that was told. I plan on buying a copy for myself.
A Loving and Warm Story ! December 14, 2000 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I bought this book for my 6 year old daughter and she loves it!! We read it over at bed time and we discover something new and exciting to discuss each time we read it !!! The story teaches children about helping others and respecting the feelings of others. In today's society it is difficult to find enjoyable children's stories that can hold a child's attention while teaching them about good values and kindness towards others. This book does just that! I'm hoping that Tara Tisopulos will write more of these types of books. My daughter and I will be waiting for the next one!
