Product Description
At last, a book about your pet that emphasizes total care, training and companionship! You'll not only learn about the specie-specific traits of your special pet you'll also learn what the world's like from your pet's perspective; how to feed, groom and keep your pet healthy; and how to enjoy your pet through training and activities you can do together. The Dachshund is written by a breed expert and includes a special chapter on training by Dr. Ian Dunbar, internationally renowned animal behaviorist, and chapters on getting active with your dog by long-time Dog Fancy magazine columnist Bardi McLennan. Best of all, the book is filled with info-packed sidebars and fun facts to make caring for your pet easy and enjoyable.

Ranked 8th in 1994 AKC registrations.

2 out of 5 stars BE AWARE OF WHAT YOU ARE GETTING   February 23, 2000

I was very disappointed with the book. Apparently it's part of a series and has a cookie cutter feel. After the part about Dachshunds (maybe 1/2), the rest is generic dog information. I really wanted more about the topic in the title. The title is a bit deceiving - so don't expect too much.

5 out of 5 stars A Must Have Book   January 5, 1999

This is one of the best I have read. Dealing with everything you need to know, from getting prepared to an emergency. With every suggestion, there is an answer, and some of her personal experiences. A well written book for all dachshund owners, or visa-versa.

5 out of 5 stars Great book for new dachshund puppy owners   January 10, 1998

The book is a good general information source for all Dashchund owners. The introduction is very well written. How to care, feed and groom your Doxie is well presented. The Basic Training and the health section is a must for first time dachshund owners. To assist the purchasers of my litter of puppies, I will present a copy of the book to each family to help answer questions they will encounter in the training and care of their new puppy.
