Product Description
Someone in South Lake Tahoe is Sirius about murder, and dog owners and their pets are about to discover that the killer's bite is much worse than his bark. Elsie MacBean (Beanie) and her Basset Hound, Cruiser, find themselves dewlap-deep in a murder investigation when supporters of a controversial dog park, proposed for a coveted tract of Tahoe shoreline, are earmarked for death. The fur starts to fly at a Howloween fund-raiser for Alpine Paws Park when Abigail Haversham, heiress to the lakeside property, is discovered strangled near the Psychic Paws booth after her quarrel with Madame Pawline, a pet psychic with a bone to pick. Mounting evidence implicates the pet psychic in Abigail's murder, but Beanie and Cruiser are also hot on the trail of other quarry in the Sirius killings. When Tahoe's dog fanciers pack together at spooky old Haversham House for the Halloween Bark in the Park costume ball, will the vicious killer seize this opportunity to unleash his revenge on them? The hunters become the hunted when Sirius comes sniffing after Beanie and Cruiser. Only Beanie's unbreakable bond with Cruiser can nip this crime spree before they become the next victims of the Sirius Killer.

Sue Owens Wright is a three-time nominee for the Mighty Maxwell, which is awarded annually by the Dog Writers' Association of America (DWAA) for the best writing on the subject of dogs. She won the Maxwell Award in 2003. She resides in Maryland.

5 out of 5 stars Basset hound mystery at Lake Tahoe - Sirius About Murder   March 24, 2007
I liked it as much as the first one, Howling Bloody Murder. I enjoy the Lake Tahoe area, bassets and mysteries so what could be better! Hope there's a third one!

4 out of 5 stars interesting amateur sleuth tale   February 4, 2006

In South Lake Tahoe, the residents debate development of Alpine Paws Park on valuable shorefront property; some people feel the lakeside land should be used to develop expensive housing that will bring plenty of new income to the town. One person opposed to the land going to the dogs has been sending threatening email signed off as SIRIUS ABOUT MURDER.

When affluent matriarch and sponsor of the dog park Abigail Haversham is murdered the police immediately assume the anti canine Sirius committed the homicide. They investigate that path while Elsie "Beanie" MacBean and her canine Cruiser wonder if the land controversy hides a different motive. She follows leads down another path, but she and her Basset hound could become the next two victims as SIRIUS ABOUT MURDER has no qualms about killing again.

This interesting amateur sleuth tale stars a fine protagonist who's at home with the dogs probably more so than with people except for her best friend Rosie Clark, a canine lover of course. Though the killer and the motive come out of nowhere, Beanie outthinks the pros in solving the case while endangering herself, Rosie and their dogs. SIRIUS ABOUT MURDER is a treat for pet lovers.
